The Dassenberg granite outcrop comprises of the western boundary of the farm. The outcrop has a watershed effect in our area with the bulk of the rain falling on Burgherspost with the coastal side of the hill being much drier. The hill also shields the farm from the saline winds blowing along the west coast. The combination of these two factors produces highly fertile soild with excellent year-round soil moisture making the farm ideal for producing top quality wine grapes.
